Fall 2016 Commencement Ceremony
On December 17, 2016 Manhattan Area Technical College conducted its Fall 2016 Commencement Ceremony at the K-State Union Grand Ballroom. The program consisted of a pinning ceremony honoring those graduating from the Nursing program. The Commencement ceremony followed with a welcome from President and CEO James Genandt. The ceremonies speaker was our own Becky Claus, Director of Nursing, who retired this fall term after many years of service in the nursing field and to MATC. She offered the students words of advice and inspiration as they completed this chapter in their lives and move into the workforce. Vice President of Student Services, Sarah Phillips recognized MATC student leaders, after which Marilyn Mahan, Vice President of Academics Affairs made the official presentation of candidates to the President and Board of Directors. President James Genandt was accompanied by Manhattan Area Technical College Board of Directors Chair, Therese Adams to assist with presentation of diplomas while Laura Weiss-Cook, Director of Financial Aid announced each student. The ceremony concluded with closing remarks by the President.

Manhattan Area Technical College Named to Victory Media’s
2017 Military Friendly® Schools List
Manhattan Area Technical College announced today that it has earned the 2017 Military Friendly® School designation by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs®, STEM JobsSM, and Military Spouse. First published in 2009, Military Friendly® Schools is the most comprehensive, powerful resource for veterans today. Each year, the list of Military Friendly® Schools is provided to service members and their families, helping them select the best college, university, or trade school to receive the education and training needed to pursue a civilian career.
Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from Victory Media’s proprietary survey. More than 1,600 schools participated in the 2017 survey; 1,160 were awarded with the designation. Ratings methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Victory Media with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for Student Retention, Graduation, Job Placement, Loan Repayment, Persistence (Degree Advancement or Transfer) and Loan Default rates for all students and, specifically, for

If Manhattan Tech should close because of inclement weather, the notice will be available through Rave Wireless (an emergency alert system) to your cell phone and/or email address, on the MATC website, radio and television stations listed below, as well as the campus answering machine (as soon as possible).
These stations will be notified and websites will be updated as soon as a decision has been made. Every attempt will be made to announce by 6 a.m. If these notices have not been made, Manhattan Tech will be open, please refrain from calling the front office. Students with a MATC online account will receive the RAVE text/email.

Good judgment should be used when deciding whether it is safe to travel
during severe weather conditions.
There are three levels of the Declaration of Inclement Weather for Manhattan Tech College:
- Cancellation of classes and activities for the day and evening (includes 4:00 p.m.) sessions (The campus will be closed.)
- Delayed opening until 10 a.m.
- Early release of personnel and students and cancellation of evening activities.
The local radio and television stations, MATC website, and the campus answering machine will indicate which level of operation the College will be under.
