New SimMan Coming Soon to a Simulation Room Near You

We are very pleased to announce a Perkins Reserve Fund Grant award in the amount of $51,936 from the Kansas Board of Regents to purchase a SimMan Essential (a human patient simulator) and implement an upgrade to our simulation area within our Nursing Department.

The new human patient simulator will be used in a pilot program to teach basic skills to our Certified Nursing Assistant students, especially targeting the high school population.  In addition, both PN and ADN students and faculty will have access to a simulation area that separates nursing students from faculty members during simulation activities.  Faculty will be able to observe the students performing controlled situations with this high-tech “patient”.

The current human patient simulator has been in service since 2006, and support for him has been “retired” by the manufacturer. The new simulator has numerous upgrades including wireless operation.
